2. Ordering Online
Ordering with us is safe and secure. All transactions are processed through encrypted, PCI-compliant payment systems. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.
When you place an order on our website, you are making an offer to purchase the goods listed in your order. We will send you an order confirmation email once your order has been received. This confirmation does not constitute acceptance of your order. A contract between us is only formed when we send you a dispatch confirmation email confirming that your goods have been shipped.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order at our discretion, for example if a product is out of stock, if there is an error in pricing, or if we suspect fraudulent activity. In such cases, you will be informed promptly and any payment taken will be refunded in full.
3. Prices
All prices shown on the website are in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT where applicable. Delivery charges are shown separately at checkout.
Prices are correct at the time of publication. We reserve the right to change prices at any time without prior notice. However, orders will always be processed at the price displayed at the time you placed your order. In the event of a pricing error, we will notify you before processing your order and give you the option to confirm your order at the correct price or cancel it.
4. Payment
We accept payment by major credit and debit cards, including Visa and Mastercard, processed securely via Stripe. Payment is taken at the time of order. By submitting your payment details, you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method provided.
5. Delivery
We deliver to addresses within the United Kingdom. Estimated delivery times are shown on the product page and at checkout. These are estimates only and we cannot guarantee delivery on a specific date.
Title and risk in the goods passes to you upon delivery. If your order does not arrive within the stated timeframe, please contact us at info@stair-gates.co.uk and we will investigate with the carrier.
We are not responsible for delays outside our control, including those caused by postal or courier services, adverse weather, or other exceptional circumstances.
6. Returns & Right to Cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods, without giving any reason.
To exercise your right to cancel, you must inform us in writing (by email to info@stair-gates.co.uk) within 14 days of receiving your order. You must then return the goods to us within 14 days of notifying us of your cancellation.
To be eligible for a return:
- Items must be unused and in their original, undamaged packaging.
- Items must be returned with all accessories, components, and documentation.
- Proof of purchase must be provided.
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the item is faulty or was sent in error. We recommend using a tracked service, as we cannot accept responsibility for items lost in transit.
Once we have received and inspected the returned goods, we will process your refund within 14 days. Refunds will be made to the original payment method. We reserve the right to make a deduction from your refund if the goods have been handled beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics, and functioning.
7. Faulty or Damaged Goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If your goods are faulty, damaged on arrival, or not as described, please contact us within 30 days of receipt at info@stair-gates.co.uk. We will offer a full refund, replacement, or repair as appropriate.
After 30 days but within six months, you remain entitled to a repair or replacement (and a refund if these are not possible). After six months, you may still have rights under warranty — please contact us to discuss.
8. Warranties
Products sold on stair-gates.co.uk are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty where applicable. The duration and terms of any manufacturer’s warranty are set by the manufacturer and are in addition to, and do not affect, your statutory rights as a consumer.
If you believe a product is defective under warranty, please contact us and we will liaise with the manufacturer on your behalf where possible.
9. Product Safety
All stair gates and safety products sold on this website comply with relevant UK and European safety standards. However, it is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure that any product is installed correctly and used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. We strongly recommend reading all safety guidelines before installation and use.
Stair gates are not a substitute for adult supervision. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommended age and weight limits.
10. Complaints
We take all complaints seriously. If you have a complaint about any aspect of our service, please contact us by email at info@stair-gates.co.uk. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 2 working days and to resolve them within 10 working days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be entitled to refer the dispute to an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme. Further information is available from the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform or the Citizens Advice Bureau.
11. Intellectual Property

13. WEEE Regulations
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations require that producers and distributors of electrical goods offer customers a free take-back service for waste electrical equipment on a like-for-like basis when purchasing a new equivalent product.
If you purchase an electrical product (such as a baby monitor or electronic safety device) from us, we will accept your old equivalent item for safe disposal in accordance with WEEE regulations.
